The metal case of iPhone 5 was highlighted by Apple in great detail during the unveiling of the product, the precise way in which the metal case comes into existence was seen by many as the next big thing. However, soon to the dismay of Apple fans, though the metal case looks great on view, it’s prone to sratchability. We always wondered why Apple in the first place failed to see it coming, or they just ignored it? It might be that the engineers at Apple handled the phone with great care.
The scratching issue is much more prominent than the earlier version of iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. The issue is more related to the black colored version of iPhone 5.
According to 9to5Mac, it seems that SVP Phil Schille doesn’t seem to be too concerned about this issue, which also in a way shows the position that what Apple thinks of current scenario. Apple releases a product, and doesn’t necessarily take steps to correct the issue which was earlier seen with the antenna issue or reception issue.
Schille said “Any aluminum product may scratch or chip with use, exposing its natural silver color. That is normal.”
His statement might be true but what it means for a consumer. It just goes to show that the relief might come with the next upcoming iPhone only. Till then, if you own an iPhone 5, you should get a protective case. This is definitely a good news for manufacturers who are engaged in manufacturing of cases.
