AT&T releases Android 4.0.4 (ICS) update for HTC One X

HTC One X (AT&T)

AT&T has released the Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update for users of HTC One X. The released update has been made available as an OTA (over-the-air) release, and is currently a download of over 270 MB.

You will automatically get an update notification of the availability of the update, the only required thing is the presence of an Internet connection on your HTC One X device. If you aren’t getting the notification, go to Settings > About Phone > Check for updates. By that way, you will be able to check for update manually.

“This release cleans that up [the black menu bar], as well as providing new contextual behavior options for the phone’s recent apps button. Users are reporting an improved multitasking experience, and the impression of brisker operation with reduced lag.” – AT&T

This new update fixes the menu button issue, but takes away your root.

Before going for this update, we would ask you to do two things;

  1. Look to make a backup of your messages, application settings and whatever if you can. There are dedicated apps available in the Google play to help you to do complete backups. This small step can help you from a lot of headache if something goes wrong.
  2. Also, make sure that you have enough battery charge on your device to sustain the process of updating the phone.
