Best Cydia Apps; The Definitive List

There are lots of applications available at cydia, some of them are very useful while some of them only add few extra functionality making you device slow overtime. It all depends on your necessities and personal preference. Here, we are listing few of must have apps and tweaks. These numbing don’t indicate ranking.

1. VideoLock - Allows playback of videos with your screen locked. We all know that iPhone or iPod doesn’t allow video playback when we lock it, but with help of this mod, you can play videos at lock mode.

2. Installous – Allows you to search and download apps directly to your device, eliminating the need of PC or MAC.

3. Landscape Lock Rotation – It allows you to lock your screen in horizontal or landscape position. Suppose you are reading a book in iBooks and you want to lock horizontal view of page, this is where the app comes in handy.

4. iFile - Call it as a file manager for your device. It allows everything that a file manager does, along with possibility to install manually installing cydia apps transferred from PC.

5. Barrel – It gives 3D effect to your homescreen pages, without the need of you wearing any glasses. After installing, go to settings to set the set the depth of 3D.

6. AdBlocker – Allows you to block ads at Safari browser and other installed apps. We didn’t liked the in-ability of blocking ads in Cydia.

7. Iconoclasm – Allows you to customize icon layouts of your homescreen. By default, iDevice allows you to set 4 x 4 set of icons, with help of this software you can customize further say 5 x 5 or x 5 x 3 set of icons.

8. Infinidock - Allows you to place more icons at your dock. Apple allows to have only 4 icons at your dock, however with help of Infinidock, you can place more than 4 icons and further you can roll them over up to 5 screens.

9. Infinifolders – Allows you to put more apps in your folders. It overrides the default value of 12 set by Apple.

10. Multifl0w – Allows you to view running apps in a cool visual appeal. It adds wow factor to your device but I find it unnecessary as it adds more code to your device. However, it all depends on you.

11. SBSettings – Allows you to control many settings of you device, either itself or with help of other addons available for download.

12. Synchronicity – It allows you to use your device while it’s syncing with iTunes. It is not one of must have, but it’s still is nice to have.

13. Winterboard – Allows you to customize your device with help of themes and other tweaks. Choose themes wisely as most of them are iOS version dependent. If any one of the theme happens to make your device run slow, then uninstall it via cydia.

14. vWallpaper – Allows your to run animated wallpapers or movies as wallpaper. This is really very cool, but this also drains your battery fast. You can download it from here.

16. Gridlock – As the name suggests, you can place icons anywhere in grid of screen.

17. ReflectiveDock - creates cool looking 3d refection of icons placed at dock.

18. Dreamboard – Install it enjoy some unbelievable themes on iPhone, iPod and iPad.

19. Locktopus – Allows you to password protect your apps and folders.

20. Vibler (New) – Makes your iPhone vibrate for missed calls and messages.
