webOS Doctor version 1.4.5 for Sprint is now available

Just a few hours after finally pushing webOS 1.4.5 out to Sprint customers, Palm has updated the webOS Doctor tool to match.  For those unfamiliar, the webOS Doctor is a utility that allows users to reinstall and/or repair and replace damanged webOS files from either a Mac or PC.  Interested users can click here for a direct download link. HTML5 based games on webOS playable

Engadget has put together something of a roundup of some of the more cutting edge stuff that’s floating around on the ‘net, and one that really caught our eye was Akihabara. Akihabara is a collection of 5 open-source games that aim to emulate the 8 and 16-bit games of old that all utilize a small subset of HTLM5 to get them up in running in most modern web browsers. All of the games here are playable through the browser in webOS, and they run great, though the user-configurable keyboard controls are somewhat difficult to get used to on the Pre.

HP Taiwan confirms pre-October launch of webOS tablet

According Digitimes, HP Taiwan Vice President Monty Wong has confirmed a webOS based tablet. It is scheduled to be launched in October of this year. Earlier, there were reports of Palm, launching an webOS based tablet, however due to Palm’s manufacturing capabilities and financial trouble shooting, there was skepticism towards this story.

We know HP bought Palm, and thus it shouldn’t be of any surprise to see an webOS driven tablet in the market. HP, earlier was looking at Android to drive its launch and now with its own webOS, it is looking to accelerate things. Still, these are just reports from credible sources.

Palm’s webOS PDK (a new component of sdk) Available for Download in Beta

Palm, Inc. announced on Tuesday at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) the public release of a beta version of its Palm webOS Plug-in Development Kit (PDK). According to the company, the new software solution comes as a new component of the webOS SDK, offering developers the possibility to use C and C++, as well as the web technologies that power the SDK, and mix them within a single application.

Palm has released a 39mb webos 1.4 update, which is available right now for download through your Sprint, O2 or Movistar. It provides Pre the video recording, flash, enhanced message notifications and much-desired performance and battery life improvements.
