
Google announced Android 2.2, tagged it as Froyo with huge set of improvements forcing users upgrade their firmware unofficially, as manufacturers will take sometime to release the update. Here, we don’t want to go into that story, instead would like to highlight all the set of newly updated features in Froyo.
- USB and Wi-Fi Internet Tethering. (No fuss, just went with the announcement)
- 2 to 3 times improvement in JavaScript.
- 2 to 5 times better performance of Android on the same hardware!
- V8 Codec support, a new free codec initiated by Google lifting proprietary concerns.
- New and improved browser, claimed to be the fastest browser available on Mobile handsets.
- Compass support for Google Maps in the browser, earlier it was only available in Google maps software which was to be launched separately.
- Improved Google Voice Search, recognizes long and complicated sentences easily. It even breaks sentences and executes two commands from a single sentence.
- Adds Flash 10.1. It is basically a slap on face of Apple.
- A widget that helps you search your Android device, apps for market and little more.
- Ability to search within app data.
- Improved crash reporting to developers, sends out vital details about the crash so it can be prevented or fixed in the future.
