After a series of repeated delay of rumors, Google Galaxy Nexus is finally available from Verizon and is shipping right now. The Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) powered device is available online for $299 with a two-year contract or $649 without a contract. The phone is priced on the higher side and the only relaxing thing with the deal is that the shipping is provided free of charge.
Google Galaxy Nexus is made by Samsung and contracted by Google. The frame has dimensions of 135.5 x 67.9 x 8.9 mm with a weight of 135 grams which is little on the higher side but makes up for the hardware that resides inside. The display is 4.65 inches super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors display support that can render a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels which is the highest seen on an Android running smartphone.
The running hardware is top-notch with a dual-core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor that will ensure that the handset won’t have any hiccups while running games and multimedia. Further, it has GPS with AGPS, Accelerometer Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Multi-touch, Three-axis gyro, Barometer sensor and NFC support. The barometer sensor helps in locking the GPS position faster and has nothing to do with other theories.
It has 5 MP (2592 x 1936 pixels) Autofocus rear camera with single LED flash with a specified video recording of 1080p @ 30fps. Though, the Google Galaxy Nexus smartphone is fitted with a 5MP camera module, it has received a positive note from Google as being capable of taking good images. There is also a secondary front VGA camera for video-calling.
The Google Galaxy Nexus smartphone also supports Stereo FM radio with RDS, along with 3.5 mm audio jack and has multiple audio/video codec support. It has 1 GB RAM and ships with 16 or 32GB Internal storage. The phone is powered by a juicy 1750 mAh.
On the connectivity side, it has HSDPA 21 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with DLNA and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP profile and also a microSD slot for data transfers from PC. You can see it’s complete specifications here.
