Learn to Transfer SMS Messages from Symbian OS to Android

This tutorial will show you how to import messages from your Symbian phone to your newly owned Android Phone.

Here are the steps

1. Install latest version of Ovi suite and make a back up of your messages (Find out your default backup saving location from software, usually in My Documents).

2. Close Ovi Suite (make sure you also exit it from tray).

3. Download Nokia2AndroidSMS from here and extract it to any directory and run Nokia2AndroidSMS.exe.

4. Manually drag and drop the datastore file (back up file created by Ovi suite) from Windows Explorer into the Nokia2AndroidSMS window or use the Open button to open it. (This step usually happens automatically)

5. Press Convert button and you should get an .xml file in the same folder you extracted the application.

6. Download an application called SMS Backup & Restore from Android Market and install it.

7. Connect your Android phone to PC and copy the .xml file into the SMSBackupRestore folder on the phone. Then simply run SMS Backup Restore and choose Import messages.
