Skydrive, the popular online-backup storage from Microsoft that provides you with 25 GB of free storage has finally got a desktop app treatment. Microsoft has finally released a SkyDrive Desktop Client for Windows and MAC which would definitely make life easier for users. You can download the desktop client (Windows and MAC) from here.
The installation is easy and doesn’t involve much tinkering of settings before you get syncing of data with cloud. You can also remote access your desktop folder via a web app which is an added functionality. The web-version of the Skydrive service provides you with a upload limit of 300 MB, however the desktop client allows you up to 2 GB.
Everything isn’t good as of now, Microsoft is downgrading the amount of storage that it is providing for Skydrive. It is planning to offer only 7 GB of free online storage to existing users and is asking them to select for a free upgrade. The free upgrade link can be found at top of skydrive page. You should click the link soon and upgrade your account before they take it back.
