Microsoft says they won’t be making their own smartphone

After the launch of Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 on-board, there was quite a speculation among tech followers that Microsoft may also introduce their own Smartphone with Windows Phone 8 (see a detailed post on what’s new). Microsoft Surface has received quite a good attention with applauds from many for designing the surface tablet and imagining something different. The way in which Microsoft conducted designed the product was a complete surprise as no one expected.

Microsoft for the first time has officially confirmed that they won’t be launching their own phone with Windows 8. Though, Microsoft designed a very good tablet and they may be capable of doing the same with the phone, it’s hard to replicate the same expertise in the case of phones.

Nokia to its credit has been very strong in the area of hardware implementation, it’s only software where it fails again and again. The implementation of Pureview imaging technology on Nokia 808 is another proof of their ability to create something catchy. Till now, it has to be said that Windows Phone 7 has dragged other manufacturers and the fault is definitely on the side of Microsoft.

Microsoft hopes to dismiss many of the shortcoming of Windows Phone 7 with the release of Windows Phone 8, thus take iOS and Android head on.
