Motorola releases Android 4 (ICS) update for Motorola RAZR XT910

Motorola has released the Android 4 (ICS) update for users of Motorola RAZR XT910. The update was originally scheduled for Q2, but it was rescheduled to Q3 due to unknown issues.

The update was initially made available in Europe (Germany, France and Italy), and today GSMArena broke the news of the global availability of the update. T-Mobile users won’t be getting the update as the carrier asked for customization of ICS with their services, and Google denied it.

You will automatically receive an update notification about the availability of the update, the only required thing is the presence of Internet connectivity on your handset. If you aren’t getting the notification, you can check manually by going to Menu > settings > about phone > check for updates.

If you still aren’t getting the update notification, don’t worry, try it later as this is a common scene during the early stages of roll-out.

Before going for this Android 4 (ICS) update for Motorola RAZR XT910, we recommend two things :

  1. Look to completely charge-up your device battery as you won’t like your device switching off in-between the update process.
  2. Also, try to back-up your messages, contacts, application settings and whatever you can. If something goes wrong, this little step can save you from a lot of headache.
