Skype has officially updated its Android app to extend video calling support for 17 more devices. You can download the updated app from here.
Below is the list of devices now supported by Skype for video calling
- Samsung Galaxy S II
- Samsung Galaxy S
- Samsung Droid Charge – Verizon
- Samsung Galaxy Tab
- HTC Desire (2.2)
- HTC Thunderbolt – Verizon
- HTC Sensation
- HTC Evo 4G
- HTC Evo 3D
- HTC Incredible S
- HTC Desire HD
- HTC Flyer
- LG Revolution – Verizon (2.2)
- Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY
- Sony Ericsson Xperia ray
- Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro
- Acer A5
Last update only supported only four models for video calling functionality, this included Google Nexus S, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro and HTC Desire S.
While there were other ways of getting to run Skype, it’s nice to get official update from the developer. If your device isn’t listed, you may still get Skype to work for video calling. Just go to “Skype settings” after launching the app and select “enable video calling”. The only problem that we are hearing is that the video calling on non-certified devices is little average than the video quality seen on certified devices during calls.
