Sony Xperia Arc gets Android 2.3.4 update from Vodafone Australia

In the days where users are looking forward to having the Android 4 (ICS) update, Vodafone in Australia has launched the Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) update for users of Sony Xperia Arc. Still, the update is definitely a welcoming move as it tries to patch up few performance related bugs, giving more desired stability to the handset that the users generally hope from the very purchase of device.

“From today, 13th March 2012 – owners of the Sony Xperia arc can install a new software update onto their devices,”

You will automatically receive an update notification about the availability of the update, the only required thing is presence of Internet connectivity on your handset. If you aren’t getting the notification, you can check manually by going to Menu > settings > about phone > check for updates. If you still not getting the update notification, don’t worry, try it later as this is a common scene during the early stages of roll-out.

Before going for this update, we always recommend two things :

  1. Look to completely charge-up your device battery as you won’t like your device switching off in-between the update process.
  2. Also, try to back-up your messages, contacts, application settings and whatever you can. If something goes wrong, this little step can save you from a lot of headache.

What we hope next is to see the upcoming Android 4 update for the device. The carrier restricted devices generally get the update late than the unlocked devices which can sometimes be frustrating for users. More information about the update can be found from the source.
