AT&T has made the Sony Xperia Ion up for grabs on its site. No, it hasn’t launched the device yet but is made available for pre-order. The price of the handset hasn’t been revealed but is expected to cost around $550, and will be up for grabs without any contract.
This is Sony’s first LTE device to bear the Xperia name. The device bears very good specifications with 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3 in charge, backed up by an Adreno 220 GPU, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of user space (expandable via microSD up to 32GB). There is a 12-megapixel camera with Sony’s Exmor R backlit sensor, while at the front there’s a 1.3MP camera for video calling purposes.
Xperia ion is also PlayStation Certified, guaranteeing a high quality smartphone gaming experience. We hoped the same from Xperia Play, but things didn’t worked the way we wished for.
The device definitely looks great on specifications and one to be watch for. I was definitely looking for an Android phone with good camera and this offering from Sony definitely looks tempting.
