Sony is now a days looking to innovate on details and here is a new thing that comes from them in their upcoming next Android powered Smartphone called Sony Xperia V. The phone will use a new technology on display called sensor-on-lens display.
The new display is distinctively different from the regular conventional display. As you can see from the above image, the display is formed of only two layers which results in more direct contact, reduction in size and gives the user a closer contact feel of the picture.
The conventional display has three layers, whereas Sony in this case has combined the layers of sensor and lens, resulting in one single hybrid layer. This has also resulted in a 5% improvement in display luminance, as well less haze.

Sony Xperia V was introduced at the IFA event, and this is for the first time that Sony has stated about the use of this particular technology. Though, Sony hasn’t given any crunching numbers to highlight the detail.
