Verizon’s Motorola Droid Razr gets a software update

Motorola Droid Razr

Verizon has released a new software update for users of Motorola Droid Razr. The update is pushed via OTA (over-the-air) and is a 57 MB download.  This isn’t the Android 4 update but is definitely a welcome as it aims to fix many niggling issues associated with the handset and will provide more desired stability and performance.

You will automatically receive an update notification about the availability of the update, the only required thing is the presence of Internet connectivity on your handset. If you aren’t getting the notification, you can check manually by going to Menu > settings > about phone > check for updates. You can check this manual (pdf file) from Verizon which lists more info about the pushed update.

If you still not getting the update notification, don’t worry, try it later as this is a common scene during the early stages of roll-out.

Before going for this update, we always recommend two things :

  1. Look to completely charge-up your device battery as you won’t like your device switching off in-between the update process.
  2. Also, try to back-up your messages, contacts, application settings and whatever you can. If something goes wrong, this little step can save you from a lot of headache.
