Windows Phone Marketplace is now hosting more than 100,000 apps. The number highlights the growth in interest of developers towards Windows Phones. Many critics would say that numbers don’t matter, and also the apps available for Windows Phone aren’t very productive in comparison to iOS apps.

Windows Phone had reached the 50,000 in December 2011, and in about five months the number of apps has doubled. On an average Windows Phone gain around 313 applications per day. Out of these apps, 26,493 have been added in the last three months and 9,391 were added in the last month.
On the whole, Windows Phone Marketplace took 20 months to cross the 100,000 mark whereas iOS (iPhone, iPod) took 16 months.
