A fighter aircraft is a aircraft designed primarily for air-to-air combat with other aircraft, as opposed to a bomber, which is designed primarily to attack ground targets by dropping bombs. These type of aircraft are small, very fast, and highly maneuverable. Right from the BF-109 Messerschmitt, fighter planes have ruled the enemy skies with their ability to defy enemies attack. Fighter planes are far advanced than normal aircraft used for transport purposes. Here I have compiled a list of the best jet fighter’s present on the planet. To choose one over the other would be sheer injustice and frankly, each one has its plus and minus points witch each one being one hell of a dream machine to possess.
B-2 Spirit – Manufacturer (Northrop Corporation and Northrop Grumman)
B-2 Spirit also known as the Stealth Bomber) is a heavy bomber with “low observable” stealth technology designed to penetrate dense anti-aircraft defenses and deploy both conventional and nuclear weapons. The development of this aircraft can be seen as a milestone in the bomber modernization program of the U.S. Department of Defense. This bomber, of which 21 exist, was not just any bomber. No, it’s a stealth bomber. They cost 23 billion dollars in project planning and design and in order to produce them, with inflation factored into today’s standards, each bomber would cost approximately 1.3 billion dollars to produce.
Maximum Speed – Mach 0.95
F-16 Fighting Falcon – Manufacturer (General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin)
The Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon is a multirole jet fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force. Designed as a lightweight, daytime fighter, it evolved into a successful multirole aircraft.
The F-16′s versatility is a paramount reason it has proven a success on the export market, having been selected to serve in the air forces of 25 nations. For more information, go here.
Maximum Speed: Mach 2
F-35 Lightning II – Manufacturer (Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems)
The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a fifth-generation, single-seat, single-engine stealth multirole fighter, that can perform close air support, tactical bombing, and air defense missions. The F-35 has three different models; one is a conventional takeoff and landing variant, the second is a short take off and vertical-landing variant, and the third is a carrier-based variant. The F-35 is intended to be the world’s premier strike aircraft through 2040, with close- and long-range air-to-air capability second only to that of the F-22 Raptor.
The F-35 is required to be four times more effective than existing fighters in air-to-air combat, eight times more effective in air-to-ground combat, and three times more effective in reconnaissance and suppression of air defenses – while having better range and requiring less logistics support. For more information, go here.
Maximum Speed: Mach 1.8
F-117 Nighthawk – Manufacturer (Lockheed Martin)
The F-117A Nighthawk is the world’s first operational aircraft designed to exploit low-observable stealth technology. The F-117A was a single-seat attack and defense suppression aircraft for the Air Force. The F-117 was designed to penetrate dense threat environments as well as attack high value targets with pinpoint accuracy.
The unique design of the single-seat F-117A provided exceptional combat capabilities. About the size of an F-15 Eagle, the twin-engine aircraft was powered by two General Electric F404 turbofan engines and has quadruple redundant fly-by-wire flight controls. Air refuelable, it supported worldwide commitments and adds to the deterrent strength of the U.S. military forces.
Maximum Speed: Mach 0.92
Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut Golden Eagle – Manufacturer (Sukhoi)
A distinguishing feature of the aircraft is its forward-swept wing, similar to that of the Tsybin’s LL-3. The sole aircraft produced is an advanced technology demonstrator prototype and manufacture of a planned second flying prototype is under question due to recent MIG developments of 5th generation Jet fighters. For more information, go here.
Maximum Speed: Mach 2.09
Sukhoi Su-37 – Manufacturer (Sukhoi)
The Sukhoi Su-37 (NATO reporting name: Flanker-F) is a Russian experimental multi-role jet fighter aircraft. It is a single seat fighter modified from the 1st generation Su-35 prototypes for thrust vector control testing. The Su-37’s nozzles are variable in pitch and travel plus or minus 15 degrees, they can be operated differentially to provide a rolling moment. For more information, go here.
Maximum Speed: Mach 2.09
EF-2000 Eurofighter Typhoon – Manufacturer (Eurofighter GmbH)
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine canard-delta wing multirole aircraft. It is being designed and built by a consortium of three companies: Alenia Aeronautica, BAE Systems, and EADS working through a holding company Eurofighter GmbH which was formed in 1986. The project is managed by NETMA (NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency) which acts as the prime customer. For more information, go here.
Maximum Speed – 1.5 Mach

Certainly one of the most interesting articles.. Though the information provided is less.. it is still handful..
B2 Bombers look awesome.. but can't say the same about its features.
Last year, i read an article how thousands of jobs will be affected, if U.S doesn't sell f-16's pakistan. I wonder why they give millions of dollars in the name of fighting war to pakistan
B-2 Spirit shape is revolutionary. I don't have much knowledge about aircraft's but the design is awesome.
